Serving Catoosa, Dade, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Walker, and Whitfield Counties

The Region A North Georgia Healthcare Coalition is proud to announce the launch of its new website: garegiona.org. This online resource serves as a vital hub for healthcare and emergency response organizations throughout North Georgia working together to build a stronger, more resilient healthcare system in times of crisis.

The Region A Healthcare Coalition unites hospitals, public health departments, EMS, nursing homes, mental and behavioral health providers, home health agencies, dialysis centers, assisted living facilities, community health centers, emergency management agencies, and more. These partners come together across county lines to collaboratively prepare for, respond to, and recover from both man-made and natural disasters.

Why It Matters

Region A Healthcare Coalition teamHistorically, healthcare organizations have created their emergency response plans independently or within their own communities. While these localized plans have helped strengthen internal and county-level coordination, they are often insufficient during larger-scale emergencies. Disasters—such as pandemics, severe weather, mass casualty events, or infrastructure failures—do not recognize jurisdictional boundaries. A unified, regional approach ensures better coordination, resource sharing, and continuity of care when it matters most.

The newly launched website helps fulfill the coalition’s mission by offering:

Information on coalition structure and objectives
Tools and resources for emergency preparedness planning
Announcements about upcoming training and exercises
Opportunities for regional networking and collaboration
Access to the regional coordinated emergency response plan

“This new platform brings our vision of regional preparedness to life,” said Sandy Hullander, Healthcare Coalition Facilitator representing North Georgia Health District 1-2 for the Region A North Georgia Healthcare Coalition. “It’s not just a website—it’s a gateway to meaningful collaboration that can ultimately save lives.”

About the Region A Coalition

Region A includes the counties of Catoosa, Dade, Fannin, Gilmer, Gordon, Murray, Pickens, Walker, and Whitfield.

The Power of Planning Together

When disaster strikes, the entire healthcare system feels the impact. That’s why coordinated planning is essential. Coalition membership empowers each organization to strengthen its emergency plans, participate in joint exercises, and learn from one another’s experiences.

Planning together saves lives.
